Environmental Leadership Training Program

Promoting the Next Generation of Environmental Leadership

With fellows participating from 26 campuses across Israel, the Environmental Leadership Training Program is already having a tremendous impact on Israel's environment.  Some of the achievements so far include managing hundreds of environmental projects across Israel, raising awareness and running campaigns for clean air, promoting solutions to the water crisis and to public transportation.

Leadership TrainingThe Program

The year long program includes a summer seminar, monthly training in a variety of leadership skills and year long professional mentoring. In the summer seminar, fellows are not only encouraged to define their goals and ways to attain them; they are given tools for planning and directing public campaigns for clean air, public transportation and sustainable energy; they meet environmental experts and receive media and public speaking training.

In each campus Chapter, fellows facilitate weekly lectures, activities, workshops and seminars aimed at giving student volunteers the tools to promote environmental issues on campus and in the community.

Classic Grassroots Model- Chapter Directors' Forum

Fellows from the different campuses in Israel meet once a month in order to update one another about environmental issues that they are involved with and group mentoring.

They become proficient on local issues of environmental concern, and gain insight and experience that will enable them to become the future environmental leadership of Israel.

Moreover, synergetic partnerships form as a result of the Chapter Directors' forum

The transformative full-year program allows for hands-on experience and management of hundreds of volunteers on campus and in the community.

As a result, many alumni continue to leadership roles in social and environmental NGOs in Israel and abroad (e.g. Israel Energy Forum, Israel's Ministry of Environment, Municipal Environmental Departments and the American Jewish Committee)

Fellows that completed the first year successfully are offered an opportunity to participate in a second year of the program. During the second year, participants continue their work as Chapter Directors, realizing and implementing the skills acquired and most importantly, they have the opportunity to build their chapters in a sustainable fashion while they receive continuous mentoring.
