Green Course-Staff Members
Green Course's staff members consist of payed salary workers, part time workers and volunteers receiving scholarships.
Gil Ya'acov, Executive Director
Gil, 27, has a B.A in History of the Middle East majoring in the Ofakim
Honorary Program, Haifa University.
An active volunteer since 2003, Gil led Green Course's Campaign for
Clean Air in Haifa Bay, coordinating the activities of various active
public organizations for the environment in the process.
Gil Coordinated the Evert Program for Social Justice in Northern Israel.
Gil has finished the position of Directing the Coalition for Public
Health in Spring 2006 and is the incoming Executive Director of Green
Course.
Gidon Melmed, Director of Resource Development and International Relations
Gidon, 28, began his experience with Green Course during his B.Sc. In
Biology, Jewish Thought and East Asian studies at the Hebrew
University.
"I believe acting to preserve our environment alongside sustainable
development is our obligation and is essential for the future of Israel
and our environment". Gidon is currently concluding his Masters program
in Business & Entrepreneurship.
Shany Zibenberg, National Campaigns Coordinator
For Shany, 26, the most inspiring thing about working at Green Course
is the people that she works with. Shany has a B.Sc. in Animal and
Environmental Science from the Faculty of Agriculture, Food, and
Environmental Quality Sciences in Rehovot.
Maya Iluz, National Spokesperson
Maya, 25, hails from the Faculty of Agriculture, Food, and
Environmental Quality Sciences where she is currently completing a
B.Sc. in Animal Science. She got involved in Green Course when her
chapter was articulating protest against animal experimentation at her
university. Her favorite hike is Nahal Arugot at Ein Gedi, near the
Dead Sea. She loves Green Course "because of its spirit".
Hamutal Cohen, Environmental Leadership Coordinator
Hamutal, 28, is concurrently earning her Phd. in Molecular Biology from
Bar Ilan University, researching genetic and hormonal features of
Diabetes patients. Hamutal lives in Kibbutz Be'erot Itzak and started
volunteering at Green Course in the year 2000.
Ziv Adaki, Administrative Manager
Ziv came to Green Course in 2002, known then and now as a woman who
gets things done. She has a B.A. in Philosophy from Hebrew University,
and is currently studying for her M.A. in Hebrew Literature.
Meital Shlomi, Educational Director
Meital, 28, earned her B.A. from Beit Berl College in Informal
Education as well as a tour guide certificate. Meital is responsible
for coordination between university students and local schools and
youth movements. She is amazed by the awareness Green Course instills
in youth by "giving students the tools to make their dreams a reality."
Michal Nevo, Director of Advocacy
Michal, 27, finished her degree in Political Science, Philosophy and
Economics (PTE) in 2005, at the Hebrew University, Jerusalem.
Michal was a Personal Parliamentary Assistant to a Member of Knesset who was, at the time, head of the Environmental Committee.
Michal also works with the Society for Preservation of Nature in
Israel, leading a campaign for protection of the Haifa Bay area
coordinating the activities of the various populations in living in its
vicinity (Arab, Hebrew and Russian speaking).
Michal Rivlin, Legal Advisor
Michal, 31, earned her B.A. in Law from Tel Aviv Univesity. She plans
to pursue her Masters in Law at TAU next year. She also works as legal
advisor in Tel Aviv area.
Yonathan Heyman, Website Coordinator
Jonathan started volunteering at Green Course in 2002 and has been
increasingly active for causes of social & environmental justice
since.
Jonathan, earned his B.A in Geography and the Environment from Hebrew
University, Jerusalem in 2005.
