Green Course has accumulated knowledge and tools that have won struggles for dozens of years, and we tend to share.
We offer workshops, lectures and long-term programs for children, youth and adult audiences, on activism, the climate crisis and community organization.

Myths about…

A series of practical workshops on various topics which deconstructs prejudice and myths that we have in our society.

 

Myths regarding the climate crisis – why is it urgent and why do we need to act now?

We will understand the background of the crisis from the greenhouse effect and emission of greenhouse gasses to the atmosphere, we will delve into the causes of the crisis and its effects on various areas of life – environment, health and society. We will learn from them of the necessary changes we must make as a society in order to reduce the damage; we will expose the struggles of the national and international environmental movements and focus on the question – why is it important for us to understand the power we have as a public and lead to effective action to change reality?

 

Myths regarding community organization – what is it and how is it done?

We will learn about the history, key words and practices of effective community organization. We will identify community problems from our daily lives and gain tools to map out collaborations with potential interested parties, and building relationships with them, in order to lead effective community organization.

 

Myths regarding activism – encouraging critical thinking and effective action

In the workshop, we will learn what activism is and why it works, we will talk about civic involvement and be exposed to creative activist activities of Green Course and various movements around the world, while deconstructing myths about activism. We will develop a critical view, which will help us identify problems / injustices within the status quo and object to them and finally, plan a creative activist action.

 

The Globe is in Our Hands Program – Gefen 

A series of workshops for grades 7-12.

The program consists of a series of practical workshops, which deal in causes of the climate crisis, the greenhouse effect and how it affects various areas of life – environment, health, society; understanding the power we have as a public and how we can work and participate in curbing the crisis.

We will learn about the negative effects of the industry of polluting fossil fuel, the damage caused by using disposable plastic, the changes that are occurring in many of the species in the air, the sea and on land, and more.

In the program, we will develop leadership, critical thinking, a sense of ability and courage and we will encourage pupils to lead towards a change in the reality in their environment. We will learn about creative activism tools and public activity in collaboration with connections to government, digital and more. The highlight of the program is planning and carrying out a local campaign within the school or town.

In the event that the activity is organized for the months of September-October or January-February, the culmination of the program will be active participation in the Climate March or the Youth March (respectively), the peak events of the Environmental Movement, organized and produced by Green Course.
